Dan -

It's a matter of taste, but I prefer a different method than Dave's for accomplishing the same task.
1) Back up ebase (sage advice, Dave!)
2) Go to the Import wizard in the admin section, and choose to import into the NAMES table
3) Match up enough fields so that ebase will recognize during a supe check that you're importing info about people that already exist in your database.  Usually, this will mean importing the IDs, name, address, city, state, zip, AND, in this case, make sure you import your new phone numbers
4) During the Dupe Check part of the import, make sure you choose to check for duplicates between your import file and ebase (one of the 4 options on the Dupe Check Screen)
5) ebase should recognize your entire import file as duplicates and take you to a split screen where you can review the dupes against the records that already exist in ebase
6) this split screen should have a button that allows you to "Set all to Update"  - PRESS THIS BUTTON.  It will mark all the records in your import file to update in ebase.  (This means that you have the opportunity to UPDATE the duplicate records in ebase with information from sepcific fields in your import file).
7) Get to the last screen of the import wizard and choose the option that allows you to "Process only the Update Records" - this will take you to a screen where you get to tell the wizard what fields you want to update in the matching ebase records - in this case, home phone number.
8) complete the wizard, and return to the home screen - check yout records to see if it worked.

This should only take about 15 minutes, and I've done it before to great success.

Subject: [support] importing new phone numbers into existing records

Hi all,

I need to import some new phone numbers into our existing e-base file.  Is there an obvious way to do this?  The file to be imported has the unique membership ID number and the new phone number (previously these records were blank in the phone field).  How do I import these phone numbers to match up with the membership numbers without having to enter all three thousand one at-a-time?   Suggestions would be appreciated.  Thanks,

-Dan
