Mike,
It's a difficult question. You basically have two choices. Either you
go for maximum attainable capacity, but forget doing it under
Win95, OR you take a fair compromise between the two.
The maximum capacity I've been able to achieve, is normal, 1.44
MB floppy disks with 2079000 bytes of space on them (!!!). It's
done with 2mgui, but these disks work exclusively under DOS, the
driver needs exclusive access to the floppy controller.
On the other hand, thanks to a briliant Hungarian programmer,
who wrote a *very* special keyboard driver, I'm able to use any
high capacity floppies formatted by FDFormat, so I can - and thus I
do - use 1.76 MB floppies (1795000 bytes) in Win95. It is totally
transparent, you don't even notice whether the floppy is normal or
high capacity, except that it shows you the higher capaciy in
explorer. It has worked for me without a hickup for years now, the
only catch being - this being a Hungarian keyboard driver - one
must not use the "Scroll Lock" key, since the keyboard operates in
Hungarian mode as long as the scroll lock light is lit. Believe me,
no other solution comes even close to this, I've tried all of them.
