Hmmm... I guess I could use a 1.44Meg, as long as it will format
a 720k double density that my Atari ST could read. (Yes, an Atari
ST computer can read 3.5" DS/DD DOS-formatted floppies - but
an IBM PC can't read an Atari-formatted disk because it has no
boot sector.) My original goal, though, was to use a shareware
program that reads Emax sound sample disks directly, and stores
them on (at least) a 286 PC. So that's why I need a 3.5" drive:
both the Atari and the Emu Emax* use 3.5" DS/DD diskettes.
...but let me see what kind of error messages I get with the two
"rescued" PC's before I start ripping things apart! - Pete
*PS: An Emu Emax is a MIDI sampling keyboard circa 1987
