I used one of those hole punches on 3.5" for 750K to 1.44MB and rarely
had a problem. But I don't buy "cheapy" bulk discs either. Also never
had a problem with Iomega Zip drive/disk either.
IMO the quality of the original media is the #1 criteria.

I have never heard of a hole punch for a 3.5" drive!! The only hole
puncer
I have heard of was for a 5.25" disk, and that was for using the flip
side
in a single sided drive, like what an Apple // uses.
