Very common problem, unfortunately.

Do what I did -- start your own BBS. <g> American Tune BBS serves a
couple of important purposes for me. Among them is automagically doing
stuff with my email. And I can handle maybe 50 maillists, reading and
replying offline, without an Inbox the size of a virtual Mac Truck. All
neatly sorted & such. And I can log on at any speed I care to allow for
myself.
I'm tying this out on my balcony on my maybe 20-year-old Zenith
notebook. No harddrive, no Win-anything. Little PPM Pocket Peripherals
2400 modem, that I plug in as needed. And I can do -that- because my
Big Machine is running my BBS and does all the hard stuff. I've killed
off all my notebooks that could handle this stuff themselves.
BBSes exist because some hobbyist continues to enjoy keeping them going.
If all the other folks in the area who could, don't, I guess that just
leaves you! <g>
Or, you could install Linux and access that from your other machines.
Give you a bit more power to work with, substantially easier to
interface with the rest of the world, and is excellent for doing big
things with small computers.
I only have Win95 running on my Big Machine because my checking program
(Quicken 99) demands it. If I could figure out how to migrate back to
Quicken 6 without destroying everything, then I'd (1) get rid of 95, and
(2) set up dual-boot to play with Linux most of the time, and Win 3.1
for occasional Win-specific stuff.
I might tinker with dual-boot with my aging second drive booting to DOS,
since that'd work better for the BBS, I think. Maybe I oughta stop
typing, and start tinkering?
