Well, Ben, you see, i'm on cable modem which uses a NIC with one rj45 plug
in my main machine. Not even any spare slots to add another NIC assuming
that was an option. Yes, I was considering star topology as the most
sensible one. However, ring topology and several others still use a
hub. I don't have the adapters for a bus or mesh, one jack each, rj45
only. So, if I want even only two, but to maintain my internet connection,
I must have a hub.
