At least that's what the guarantee scared manufacturers say. In all of
my experiences as an overclocker (quite a lot by now) leaving the case
of droped temperature by a few degrees. My Mendocino333->412 motherboard
temperature dropped from 35 to 27 C. However it's usually not very hot
over here in The Netherlands. I could imagine casing being affective
in hotter places.
My favorite solution: leave the case off, add (a) fan(s), and use card
board to construct ducting. If ducting is to much of work make sure
all IDE/Floppy cables are either taped out of the air stream or make
them
round.
