I think you are getting to the facts of the matter and stepping away
from the marketing hype being passed out by all the rest on the issue :)

One of the more widely used "standard interfaces" is the center pedal of
the two or three on the floor of a car that most of us step on. That is
how you "interface" "interface" the most complex computer system in a
vehicle = ABS braking system.

IMO any interface is like art - everyone has their own opinion on what
is:
trash - bad - good - and works for them...

How is a command-line more "native" to the inner workings of a computer?
When I'm just trying to move a file from A to B, I don't seriously
expect
any sort of intellectual experience. And as much as I love Linux, I'd be
fooling myself to think the computer gives a damn whether I type "grep"
or
click a mouse.

I suppose to get really close to the beast, I could interface that old
AIM
board I've got standing in the corner and do it all in machine language
but
...
