Since some days my XT has some difficulties at boot up.
I have MS Dos 6.2 on my A drive and the rest of the programs on the harddisk

(20 Mb). After checking the memory 512 KB OK, it normally gave the connected

drives A: 360 B: 1400? and would than starting MS-Dos.
Now it runs the memory check, 512 KB OK, followed by 80000 40 201.
then the drive arrangement followed by Error (Resume ="F1" Key)
After pressing F1, some times a normal boot is followed but some times I get

 Starting MS Dos
 PARITY CHECK I
 80000 (S)

Only an cold boot may help then. What is this Parity check.
Could somebody tell me in plain english what is wrong with the system?
