Parity is an error checking method. It is used in communication, memory,
and data bus. Extra character is transmitted with each byte of
information, the extra character clues to the sum of the byte in binary, it
will be either even or odd.
A parity error is when this error checking finds an error. The data coming
out is not what went in. It can occur if a chip on a memory SIMM
fails. It can occur with drive transmission, if the cables are loose, too
twisted, pinched, damaged, etc. First thing I'd try would be changing the
memory SIMMS to see if it fixes the error. Easiest and most likley
cause. Where you check depends on your system.
