Precisely.  So the DOS method of naming its logical
drives (C: D: E:) doesn't really tell you anything
about the harddrive being used.

Yes, Linux and DOS are pretty much the same in this respect.
But didn't you claimed earlier that DOS drive letters are
SUPERIOR to Linux mount points?
