Oh, I did forget something. You can use Sambar (http://www.sambar.com) for
now. It's a proxy server that will let you do basic Internet surfing and the
like -- quite a bit actually -- for free. It's worth checking out. There are
definitely more powerful products, and it does nothing for security AT ALL
but it's a neat way to get going. PLEASE read very carefully any info about
security if you use ANY sort of proxy software though. If you allow external
users to use your proxy, they'll use your system as a base to launch attacks
on others.

WinGate used to be free for a single user, but I don't know about the latest
versions.
