Hi Karen:
I told you I would read over my documentation files for my TERMINATE program
and get back to you concerning OCR support and any features for converting
raw fax files to ascii.
Well, this program has no support for converting raw fax files to ascii.
When running as a mini-BBS, TERMINATE may be set up to receive faxes also,
but only if you have an "adaptive fax modem", i.e. one that can
automatically distinguish beween a machine calling in to transmit ordinary
data and a machine calling in to transmit a fax. When TERMINATE receives
a fax, it calls an external fax program of your choice, as may be specified
in the configuration and setup.
TERMINATE offers support to the visually-impaired by allowing one to enable
features that will cause certain kinds of sounds to be produced upon
receiving certain types of keyboard inputs and mouse-key clicks. Also
special kinds of sounds will occur as certain kinds of things happen at
special places on the screen. These kinds of features can be very helpful
for you if you want a terminal program to use for connecting to a BBS, or if
you want to operate your own mini-BBS.
Other than providing support for an adaptive fax modem, TERMINATE has no
special features for the handling of faxes. It just calls an external fax
program of your choice. No special sounds would occur when TERMINATE has
transferred control to the external program.
If I should ever find a program that could really help you to fulfill your
special requirements, I will certainly let you know about it.
All the best,
Sam Heywood
