A more unlikely thing that can happen (it happend to me) is that the I/O
cable (or any other of the hardware) isn't working as it should. I couldn't
access anything after my first 450M on a 6.4M HD until I switched I/O cable
(I made sure to cut the cable so I wouldn't misstakenly use it again - why
I would try and salvage stuff from my own trashbin I really don't know <g>).
