For those of you interested in BasicLinux, I've started
working on an update, with key-mapping and several other
new features. However, the really exciting news is that
yesterday I managed to get Netscape working on BasicLinux.
The add-on package (X, icewm and Netscape 3.04) is around
10meg in size (uncompressed). I haven't tried zipping it
yet, but it will probably be around a 5meg download.
At this stage, I am uncertain about the best way to
distribute BasicLinux+Netscape. It would happily run
in a ramdisk (like the original BasicLinux), but this
approach would be limited to systems with 20meg RAM.
Alternatively, I could use a loop filesystem or UMSDOS
or a permanent installation on a Linux partition.
I don't know.
I'll have to give this some thought. Suggestions are
welcome.
Cheers,
Steven
