Two significant additions to BasicLinux went up
today: a dhcp client and a package for installing
BasicLinux to it's own HD partition.

I don't have access to dhcp, so I haven't been able
to test the client myself. Fabian Pedrosa has been
trying it out for me on his system and he emailed me
today to say that it works for him. So, I've put it
up and would appreciate feedback from anyone who tries
it.
I'm very pleased with the install-to-HD package.
It transfers all the BasicLinux stuff from the
ramdisk (including customization), reconfigures
the system for HD operation, and adds functionality.

man pages - spend a month reading man bash
file - identify file type
ldd - identify what libraries a binary needs
ldconfig - link library (after adding new library)
setleds - automatic numlock, capslock, etc.
top - system monitor

I think there is huge potential here for survivor PCs.
Fast booting, only 5meg in size, lots of functionality,
and an extra 4meg RAM available (freed up from the ramdisk).
It's going to be much easier to add stuff from Slackware 3.5.
Even X with icewm should be possible.
