Yes, Opera requires X. However, BasicLinux has a built-in
browser (links) that works just fine.

Yes indeed, Opera has dependencies. Do:
---------
ldd opera
---------
to find out what it expects.

The Linux version of Arachne also has dependencies. Do:
-----------
ldd arachne
-----------
to find out what it expects.

Yeah, just like DOS. blink...blink...blink...
What the hell do I do now???

Don't you have skill with the DOS CLI? Then, what's the
problem? The Linux CLI is very similar to the DOS CLI.
Sure, the \ that DOS uses in pathnames becomes a / in Linux,
and there are some other minor things that will trip you up.
But the basic way of doing things is pretty similar. Afterall,
DOS is a bastard son of Unix. Linux and DOS are half brothers.

IMHO, developing CLI skills (whether DOS or Linux) is important
for owners of survivor PCs. GUIs put a significant burden on
resources and survPCs don't have resources to waste. We just
can't afford to depend on "user-friendly" point-and-click
eye-candy to manage the computer.

Steven
