Hello everyone!

I sure am glad to find this list! I am glad to see that there are others
besides me who see older machines as something other than boat anchors.
>From the description, this list is more than I was looking for. I thought
that I was the only one still using an 8088 based system in a useful manner.
I can't do a lot with it...but it is extremely reliable.

It has been a long-standing belief of mine that Windows was the solution to
a problem that didn't exist - I was running DOS 6.22 with Desqview , using
it for a landline BBS and other things too...and the system was stable.
Every "improvement" only makes the computer work harder, and frankly, I'm
sick of Windoze.

I would love to set up a DOS-based PC for the Internet. What sort of
software is available for this?

I have a 386 system that I want to add a Soundblaster 16 (compatible) card
to. Unfortunately, I do not have drivers for it - might anyone have DOS
compatible Soundblaster drivers?

I am attempting to resurrect my old BBS system, which is backed up on QIC-80
tapes. I have met many people who can't imagine life before the Internet,
and I really want to set up a demo system. That is not the problem, but does
anyone know about how to link two PCs, to give the effect of a dial-up? I'm
sure I would use the serial port and a null-modem cable, but beyond that,
I'm not really sure. For the BBS software I'm running Renegade v 5-11exp.

Anyway, I'm glad to be here...I have some older software in my possession as
well, if someone could use something and can't find it, let me know. I have
a bunch of DreamWare door games on floppy, and others still backed up on
tape.
