Hi Glenn,

About "16 Bit Graphic Editors" of January 25:

MS> ...i'll bet you may have a few suggestions to make about graphic
MS> editors for 16-Bit OSes...
GG> ...for Windows 3.1... ...PaintBrush... ... NAVImage for conversion
GG> to different formats, and LViewPro 16... ...I can add text, crop...

`NavImage' would be new to me and i didn't know `LView' well enough
to be aware that it could modify a graphic file. My buttons had uniform
surfaces until my browser displayed them, what's even stranger is that i
obtained a nice button when displayed in a new window from the very same
session... I'm confident others may have come across a similar problem,
which is why i'm asking. Maybe it's a particular combination; that too
it gave me a lot to think! I tried to modify the colours but to no end,
i ended up searching the ~WEB~ for a grey-scale graphic file where i had
all the smooth greys i wanted (so i thought), euh... I found some and i
saved them as .BMP files thru NetScape, then i collected the greys which
i liked most using `PaintBrush'... I couldn't "copy" those greys to the
palette so just imagine the rest, then came the transparency problem!...

                                  %-o

It seems not all 256 colours are safe, that's what i read on a MAC-
related site but `NetScape' likes to trash the bookmarks i collect! 8-7
I considered a partial install of `Corel Draw v3' but i recalled that it
had no bitmap tool i liked. `PaintBrush' would be perfect if it weren't
so limited in colour palettes. `GWSDOS' seems to handle the conversion,
but perhaps i should try a succession of conversions to see if the later
can really translate from .BMP to .GIF with a constant coherency... :^o

GG> For DOS... ...Deluxe Paint II... ...PictView, convert it to JPG or
GG> GIF... I'm not sure you could find Deluxe Paint anymore???

I think i have a partial but functional directory copy of it that i
salvaged from my cousin's `PC-XT', i also have `Image72' somewhere but i
thought of something specifically meant for ~WEB~ graphic editing. It's
not a problem for me to use `WfWG'/`PaintBrush', i feel that's a natural
combination for creating `Windows'-like buttons and why not: i'll admit
it would fit this purpose perfectly if it had more adequate palettes!...

                                  :*)

Thanks for the suggestions anyway, i now got two new avenues to go!

                                                    Salutations, 8-)
