There many dos tools which I know well with functionality
I have yet to see in Linux.

As limited as Arachne is, I know how to tag all the
spam without waiting for it to open, and delete it
all at once. I dunno how to do that in Linux.

DC & DW have several commands for tagging and untagging
groups of files that I dont see on MC.

If you are going to be reading and writing text like
this, it makes sense to be working in text mode. When I
compose with a dos text editor, I expect a single line
toolbar at the top and the other 49 lines for the text
I am working with. I also expect to be able to shift
back and forth between 25 and 50 lines with a hotkey.
In dos, since one is always 'root' this is convenient.

All of this, and much more, could be done in Linux, but
the fact is that the work being done in Linux is pretty
much limited to GUI tools, with more effort going into
eyecandy than actual functionality. All of this was done
in dos because it was needed before one could waste time
in GUI, picking wallpaper or whatever. If you wanted to
improve a dos program, you couldnt do much to improve
the look, you hadda go for functionality.
