Dammit Day, here you go AGAIN. You're more than entitled to use whatever tools you prefer, and I respect your preference for DOS. Again, as a long-time DOS user, I'm well aware of it's capabilities. Buy why-oh-why do you always have to turn your preference for DOS into a slam against Linux? Your statement regarding Linux is COMPLETELY off base, as usual. While a lot of work IS going into putting Linux onto desktops as a viable OS choice, that's hardly ALL that's being done. Although I've yet to see any site that has stats on GUI-versus-nonGUI development work, I suspect that MOST development is on server-side functionality that has NOTHING to do with X, or user interfaces at all. Just give a moment's thought to how and what you access when you hit the 'net. MOST OF IT doesn't involve a GUI at all, and MOST OF IT can be done on Linux (and other alternatives) and MOST OF IT is under active development. That which isn't available on Linux is likely Microsoft-based. Web, IRC, e-mail, firewall and dozens of other applications used daily by thousands have NO GUI whatsoever. Linux is NOT turning into another Windows effort, limited to eye candy on the desktop. While the GUI is often all non-technical people look at, there's a HELL of a lot more under the hood. You of all people should appreciate that. > All of this was done > in dos because it was needed before one could waste time > in GUI, picking wallpaper or whatever. If you wanted to > improve a dos program, you couldnt do much to improve > the look, you hadda go for functionality. No doubt you're going to pick a few specific keystrokes that aren't used EXACTLY the same way in Linux versions of software, and call that some sort of limitation. You have clearly demonstrated that you have NO IDEA what you're doing with Linux, or what its capabilities are. PLEASE stop spewing garbage just because you've not figured it out. DOS is great. Linux is great. It's not an either-or choice, and you don't have to slam what you don't understand. - Bob To unsubscribe from SURVPC send a message to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with unsubscribe SURVPC in the body of the message.
