As I explained, it wasn't a mount problem, it was a sync problem. You pulled the floppy before it was synced. First, syncing a HD is *much* faster than syncing a floppy. Second, you can't accidently pull a HD. Still, if you want to be totally paranoid, that's your decision. However, you still can use Linux. Just don't mount your precious non-Linux partitions. Or, if you do need to access them, mount them read-only.
