In the even of a system fault, the same results would apply to whatever partition I had been writing to at the time - hd or floppy. >Still, if you want to be totally paranoid, that's >your decision. My 20+ years using computers has convinced me that being paranoid is the logical choice when using a computer. >However, you still can use Linux. Yes, I agree. >Just don't mount your precious non-Linux partitions. Everything I have decided to store on magnetic media is 'precious' to me. I don't just download other people's software. I write my own and recently am creating new orginal arrangements of MIDI music files. Irreplaceable and yes, 'precious' to me. It's one reason I dont' go on endlessly bashing software I don't like. I acknowledge the _effort_ if not the results and know that person cannot reclaim those man-hours eaten up in the attempt to do something useful/creative for themselves and for others. >Or, if you do need to access them, mount them read-only. My preference is to install Linux on it's own system where Linux can only do hard to Linux. Just in case anyone is wondering, yes I have burned CDs of my entire hard drive and can replace all of it if necessary but I don't do this every day. :-) Charles Angelich The Ghost in the Machine!
