X runs fine in 16mb RAM. Netscape 3.04 (on BL1) runs fine in 16mb RAM (with swap). The big question is: can we find a better browser than Netscape 3.04 that runs OK in 16mb RAM. I am currently running Opera in 16mb RAM. It's quite sluggish (despite the large banner saying THE FASTEST BROWSER IN THE WORLD) -- much slower than Netscape 3.04. I haven't done anything to optimize Opera yet; I think there are some tweaks that might speed it up. I also need to try it on a different HD with a bigger swap partition (there's only room for 16mb on the current HD). > Personally, I wouldn't want to recommend "the best" browser. I'm not looking for the best browser in an absolute sense. I'm looking for the browser (graphical and javascript- capable) that runs best on a 486-66 with 16mb RAM.
