I agree with you in some parts, but genshi can do others things as diff
output and i18n.

PHP embed in HTML isn't a beautiful way,  is very expensive and very
unreadable.

honestly  I don't know  if I'll start a plugin to do something like this,
but genshi way is very clean and extensible.

well, I'll keep waiting opinions to form  view of that.
