Comment #8 on issue 2032 by smichr: Ability to work with K[x, 1/x] in Polys
http://code.google.com/p/sympy/issues/detail?id=2032
Sorry, I missed the apart comment of yours in 2.
Regrading 1/x...well I don't want to throw away Integrate because it can't
integrate everything ;-) Only a few hundred commits ago you couldn't even
make a poly from some expressions. Surely you haven't forgotten the "can't
decompose error":
Poly(1+2/x+1/x/x,x)
Traceback (most recent call last):
File "<stdin>", line 1, in <module>
File "sympy\polys\polynomial.py", line 436, in __new__
terms = Poly._decompose(poly, *symbols)
File "sympy\polys\polynomial.py", line 579, in _decompose
raise PolynomialError("Can't decompose %s" % factor)
sympy.polys.polynomial.PolynomialError: Can't decompose 1/x
Now, you don't even need to specify the x:
Poly(1+2/x+1/x/x)
Poly(1/x**2 + 2*1/x + 1, 1/x, domain='ZZ')
You can also factor such an expression and before you would just get
the "decompose" error.
