That depends on our scope. Are we defining the IP protocol only, or are we
defining the process<->log server protocol as well (/dev/log & friends)?

If the latter, then this needs to be allowed to exist in the protocol via
some method. It could be non-negotiable, just an assertion "OPTION=UDSAUTH
<insert log message here>", so the server knows what to do.
