"Dividing up a large drive into numerous sub-2GB (1.95GB recommended; 2.00GB actually doesn't work) pieces solves the problem nicely."
Wonderful as there are lots of used 4GB drives availaible as opposed to used 1GB and 2GB exteranl drives. In all the years, I have been using a Mac (since 1989) I have never partioned a drive although I imagine that it is fairly routine to do so. However, for those who have, I am sure that you have developed (or should I say the collective 'we') have developed tips to enahnce poerformance and to avoid problems which someone like my self would have to experience the'hard' way. Comments anyone? This is not a complaint: I am beginning to feel like a junior prometheus; all I did was ask an uncomplicated question about 1GB and 2GB external dirves and it is as if a sleeping dragon has awakened.
