Actually all providers have many networks.. they just
broadcast one network ID number. T-mobile has reduced
the number of numbers they broadcast in the
continental US from over 12 to three. They are
310-160, 310-170, 310-260. The first two numbers are
used in NYC and CA/NV.. the 260 is now used everywhere
else. With the merger of Cingular Wireless and AT&T
Wireless the agreement with Cingular will come to an
end.. at that point the NYC and CA/NV numbers will be
retired and in the lower 48 all t-mobile networks will
be 310-260. Cingular also uses multiple network
numbers.. and programs most of their phones to display
"Cingular Extend" when they can register on a roaming
network in the US.
