Only if they can spoof your CID. And it's not "recent." The feature
to require 'password' to access voicemail from the handset has been
there for years with the older Glenayre system as well as with the new
Comverse system. As far as security one thing that is still wide open
is anyone can call T-Mobile customer care and when it asks you to enter
a number you can enter anyone's T-Mobile subscriber number and you can
see what their minute useage is. On the old system all you had to do
is press # after the initial greeting. On the new voice recognition
system all you have to do is key in or say the number and you can have
access to this information. It will only ask you for the last four of
your SSN if you make a billing inquiry. Some phones now are
"recognized" and you don't have to imput your phone number any more but
this seems to be random that sometimes it works and other times not.
Sometimes you may get a representative and have to give your number,
SSN and name again and sometimes the fields are populated for the rep.
A wholely uneven system.
