I have a relatively short distance, about 15 miles to the next town,
Boulder, CO (USA) where there is a nice yarn shop. Shameless plug follows:

I also have been known to frequent our local hobby store for crotchet
thread (Hobby Lobby) and that's two miles from my home (five minutes by
car). It's almost too close :-) 

I've not tried mail order or internet fiber before. Can anyone recommend
a good place/site?
