There is a local weaving store in Santa Cruz, CA, and I have
occasionally bought things from them, but I haven't done any weaving
in the last six years (my son is now 5, if that offers any
explanation), so I have not bought much. My wife has taken one or two
basket-making classes from them, and I've bought a small frame loom
for my son there.

When I was weaving, I would occasionally buy from a tiny shop in
Scotts Valley (about 40 minutes away by bike---I don't have a car),
but they went out of business years ago.

I got most of my current stock of yarn at conferences (Conference of
Northern California Handweavers or Convergence) or at the Santa Cruz
Handweavers Guild's swap meets. I have occasionally bought mailorder
(mainly from Robin and Russ, but also from places that specialize in
silk or linen, since those tend to be harder to find than cotton or
wool). I've not bought any yarn since the internet started, so have
not tried that method of ordering weaving supplies.
