Mel asked: > Unrelated by re slides you still seem to use them in the US ? do you get them off > your digital cameras in some way or do you use slide film ? Depends on the purpose... slide film still has a much higher resolution than the average digital camera, and an optical 35mm is much more flexible. For pics of historical bands for analysis, and similar purposes, I'd _much_ rather have an old-fashioned slide. Where that level of detail isn't important, digital pics are fine. You can also make them into slides, but the quality isn't nearly as good as a slide original. You can however do some neat things annotating them, etc. I give nearly all my presentations/classes using a computer projects, and so primarily have digital originals or scanned slides. For large conferences, though, there often aren't enough computer projectors available, and the organizers often prefer or require slides except in special cases. For a single class or seminar, one is usually available as needed. It's important to realize that I work in an academic environment, have access to both a slide scanner and a slide recorder, and go to a lot of conferences, seminars, etc. For most non-academic events, I think that just about every group has a slide projector, but computer projectors are still rather expensive. More people probably have 35mm cameras than good digital cameras too.
