Depends on the purpose... slide film still has a much higher resolution than the average digital camera, and an optical 35mm is much more flexible. For pics of historical bands for analysis, and similar purposes, I'd _much_ rather have an old-fashioned slide.


Absolutely, although I hasten to add that I have not used a digital camera yet.  I love the flexibility of having slides:  they can be used in a presentation;  I can get excellent color prints from the ones I want.  When we go to Sicily later this year, I plan on taking two 35 mm cameras, one for color slides and one for black-and-white prints.
