built-up area - wäre nicht ggf. urban area besser?
Ich glaube nicht, daß das gut passt:

An urban area is an area with an increased density of human-created structures in comparison to the areas surrounding it. Urban areas may be cities, towns or conurbations, but the term is not commonly extended to rural settlements such as villages and hamlets.
Wie schon geschrieben: Im offiziellen UK Highway Code [3] wird "built-up area" verwendet. Wenn wir uns einen englischen Begriff aussuchen, dann sollte es besser dieser sein. Anderes führt IMO nur zu Verwirrungen.
