ISTR that most trig points are no longer maintained and that their function is now replaced by base stations: http://www.ordnancesurvey.co.uk/oswebsite/gps/commercialservices/basestations.html I guess the passive stations are the equivalent of the old trig points, and in some cases, coincide with them.
