As a regular visitor to these type of places, I think the problem is that
pubs change hands, and with that attitudes and policies on a very
frequent basis.


 Cafes open and close all the time but almost all welcome cyclists, but
many have no where to safely leave your bike.

I find that websites are generally out of date. The most up to date
information is usually on Facebook.
