Now that I have read the pages on the migration to ODbL I may have
reacted to strongly and to soon. As far as I can see the data will
not be deleted, just not available through the normal channels.
However a copy of the existing planet.osm will be saved for the
forseeable future.
There is also talk about making the old data available under the
current license and the migrated and new data under ODbL in paralel.
Though I might have misunderstood that part. How should you choose one
license form over the other when using a mapping program? For how long?
Anyway: accept the new license by logging in to the www.openstreetmap.org
site checking the appropriate boxed and clicking the appropriate
buttons. Otherwise your data will eventually no longer be available.
