First of all, I will offer my apologies for persisting about this
question, but I feel that it is now at least within the proper context,
and more to my previous intended point, if that makes any sense
<g>. Is it advisable to run Defender along with an antivirus program?
I take it that it does offer reasonable protection when it comes to
malware and such, but is it meant to be an adiquit antivirus program?
Thanks for your patients,
Larry

defender is a part of Windows 7. But it is disabled if you install MS

I believe Windows Defender requires Windows 8 or later--is that
correct?

Hello, the rule!!! Is that you run independently. Saying this, I
have never had any issues running another antivirus program with
it! So it's your choice. Give it a try, if there is no effect,
then leave it. If there is, uninstall the current one and use the
Microsoft 1. Thank you.

OK, Just one more question if I may. Should one run Defender along
with other virus checkers, or should it be run exclusively? I just
got a new computer, and we just installed the free version of
Avira, so really need to have an answer to this question.
Please feel free to reply off list at the above address.
Any help with this issue will be greatly appreciated,
Larry
