Defender is built in to windows 8.x. it is very accessible it is very good and it is free. I have not been infected with anything sense I started using defender on windows 8. If you are not using windows 8.x then you will not have access to defender. You will need to get Microsoft security essentials this is also a very good product and it served me well on windows 7. Hth

I understand that MS has a free multi-antivirus program called Microsoft Defender which is updated automatically. Do people think it is effective and accessible? I am presently subscribed to Vipre internet protection. I have certainly not been in fected since using it but it is not free and I don't find it all that accessible. I won't renew my subscription if Microsoft has a free alternative. What do people think?
