Hi

I am new on here. I am reading this message, I think it is
always useful to have another screen reader installed such
as nvda so if we jams up you can quickly launch nvda or vice
versa and hopefully complete the job, I use a hot key to
launch either screen reader. In fact I have nvda set up as a
portable version too on my c drive again with a hot key so I
can quickly launch that if I need it.

Regards

Adrien

Subject: RE: Plea for an WE Patch

1. Description of problem
There is more than one situation:
*Window-Eyes will cause a dialogue to appears that says
Window-Eyes has stopped responding. Trying to get focus to
the dialogue and pressing the spacebar to activate the OK
button gets ris of it. Then using the window-Eyes start hot
key, alt+control+W calls up WE again and no error report is
generated.
*Widnow-Eyes will stop working with no error. The only thing
close to a pattern is that this often happens just before I
get an updates are available notice.
*Outlook 2013 is set to check spelling before sending. I use
control+enter to send the message. The spell check routine
comes up. At the end of the check there is an error.
Sometimes it is the Outlook enhance app that tanks and
sometimes Window-Eyes stops working. Generally an error
report is created and I always send them.
Pressing Windows Key+R to call up the run dialogue and
typing in a URL will cause IE 11 to launch. May be half the
time Window-Eyes stops working.
Sometimes Window-Eyes will continue working again. When it
doesn't recover on its own, there is no error report to
send. No fancy web sites, I usually just call up Google,
www.google.ca or Winnipeg Transit's mobile page
http://m.winnipegtransit.com. I don't include the http://
prefix in the first instance, because the www is enough.
2. Computing environment: operating system version and
architecture (32 or
64 bit), Window-Eyes version and synthesizer Windows 8.1 64
bit pro version, Intel I5 4 cores 2.5 ghz.
Office 2013 for business.
AMD bios.
6 GB installed RAM.
I am running Window-Eyes 9.1 using either Microsoft Hazel or
eSpeak.
3. Exact steps to duplicate the problem (including web page
address if
applicable)
This is difficult. Often it is when IE 11 is launched or a
new page is called up in a new tab. Sometimes it is during
spell check before sending a message.
I use three user accounts. I usually don't sign out, I just
switch users. If Window-Eyes is having a problem in one
account, chances are when I return to another, WE is not
speaking.
There are even times when I am just using Windows Explorer
to move or copy files around various folders or devices. WE
will stop working, but not as often as when browsing,
calling up a browser or while in email.
4. Expected results
I don't understand this question, I expect Window-Eyes to
keep speaking to me.
5. Current results
Again I don't understand this question.
6. Any additional comments (e.g. does this issue happen with
other screen readers, can you duplicate it reliably, etc.)
These problems do not occur when I use NV Access or Sa To
Go. At work, I am using JFW 15 on a Windows 7 64 bit pro
version. It is running on an HP laptop that is five or six
years old with 4 GB of ram and an older Intel processor.
None of these lock up situations happen. The version of
Office at work is 2010 pro. That is not a reasonable
comparison. And I no longer have admin rights to install the
software I want to use.
Spell check WE hot keys do not work for me in Office 2013. I
have tried to re-install WE and the various apps with the
same results.
I have tried using FireFox instead of IE, however that
didn't help We with the stability issues.
Even when using the WE mouse keys the behaviour is odd. For
example if I press the key to move the mouse pointer to the
top left of the screen, I can still press the key to move
the mouse pointer up a line and WE continues to read more
text. This is also the case if I press the go to bottom left
corner and use the mnouse down key to read more. Top left or
right and bottom left or right behave exactly the same.

Subject: Plea for an WE Patch

Greetings

It is said that the measure of a person or organisation is
how they behave when things don't go right. After all this
is when people are paying attention.

This is my shameless plea begging for a patch from AI Square
or GW Micro to address some of the issues WE is having. When
one types Window-Eyes in Google the first GW Micro page that
comes up has the following line:

"Window-Eyes is nothing less than the most stable, secure
and customizable screen reader available on the market
today."

In my experience this is no longer the case. I realise that
there are processes and procedures companies must follow
when implementing updates or changes. These processes and
procedures should be there to support the business; they
should not drive the business.

Yes Windows ten is around the corner. Not all of us will be
jumping on this new OS right away. Until then anything that
can reduce the number of issues by at least fifty percent
will make using Window-Eyes a more positive experience for
those of us who continue to experience loss of speech, WE
deciding to stop running etc.

Vic
