Hi Reeva,

I am catching up on some of my email today and I wanted to respond to your
question about older synthesizers and ZoomText Fusion. There are several
reasons that we did not include older synthesizers, such as DecTalk Access32.
However, at the top of the list is that many of the older synthesizers do not
allow for speaking and highlighting of text simultaneously. You noted that the
price was worth it for "speech and tracking focus alone." This was one of the
main feature requests we heard for ZoomText Fusion. That is, users wanted to
see everything that they hear. If we were to include older synthesizers, the
user experience would vary from synthesizer to synthesizer, and most users
would think that Fusion would not work when, in reality, it is because the
synthesizers are old and no longer being developed. Thus, we made the decision
to include the latest synthesizers that do support this technology.
Additionally, a very high percentage of ZoomText Fusion users want a h
uman-sounding synthesizer. Thus, if we included DecTalk or Eloquence, there
are not only very few users who want it, but it would not work with tracking
focus, and the cost of the product would likely need to be higher. A similar
issue exists with the older Vocalizer (that is, NON-expressive) voices. The
tracking would not work and the price of the product would likely need to be
higher. This would give the impression that ZoomText Fusion did not work as
advertised and raise the cost at the same time. I hope this helps clarify why
we selected to include Neospeech and Vocalizer Expressive, as these
synthesizers are able to track everything that is spoken. In fact, we did a
ton of work under the hood to ensure that this works extremely well with these
synthesizers and ZoomText Fusion.

I hope you are enjoying the ZoomText Fusion trial!

What are some of the features you like best about it?

Merry Christmas!

Jeremy

Subject: Re: Window Eyes and ZoomText or Fusion?

I have been using we and zt together for the past year and a half. I'm avout 2
and a half weeks into my fusion trial and i'm making plans to pay the $400 to
upgrade. It's basically we and zt finally working good together. It's worth it
just for speech and focus actually tracking alone.
Keep in mind this is new software the downsides i'm about to list may change
with updates. The biggest one in my opinion is voices if you are a dectalk or
eloquence fan you'll have to get those voices from a 3rd party as they do not
come with fusion and the versions on the website for sale for we for office
will not work with fusion. If like me you bought/want vocalizer classic voices
like jill as i bought her for we for office at this time you're outta luck. You
get vocalizer expressive tom, ava, samantha and allison and neospeech kate and
paul. Ai2 people if y'all read this PLEASE PLEASE make the we for office voices
available for purchase on the gw site work with fusion. I know some of this is
up to the tts company that licenses the voices to y'all but y'all are gonna
have people like me coming over from using we and zt as seperate products
together who are gonna want dectalk and eloquence or in my case i bought
vocalizer classic for jill for we for office nuance got ri
d of her when they came out with vocalizer expressive. I don't think it's too
much to ask for people who bought voices for we for office or people coming
over from the retail version of we to get to use the voices we paid for already
 with fusion.
At this time the chrome web browser is not supported by fusion. The last
downside is if you use the old zt keyboard, the one with the circle buttons on
top. You're gonna have to buy the new zt keyboard the old version does not
work with fusion. I highly suggest downloading the 60 day trial to see if you
like it. It's easy to get used to as there's a we keybord layout and you can
use all the apps from app central.
