Hi Carol,

Sorry. I can't think of anything else off hand. And I have no idea what Dennis is talking about below. Care to enlighten us, Dennis? Did you mean blank lines perhaps? I did have that off and turned it on. And it did speak blank at the start of every message. But there was no repeating.

Regards,
Tom

Turn off first lines. Again make sure it's program specific.

Hi Tom,

I made sure everything was set to program and turned everything off except
for speak first 24 lines. I don't hear the number of things now, but I do
still hear the first line repeated in Thunderbird. I cleared the settings
for both of the new page categories. Do you have any more suggestions?

Carol

I solved this a long time ago. Try going into the Window-Eyes control
panel, verbosity, browse mode, new page information 1 and 2, and
turning off everything other than read first 24 lines or entire page.
Toggle all the changes from global to program scope so you don't
change them in your browser or CHM help files. Save the set file.

This is because the automatic reading starts, then the new page
information fires, and this causes automatic reading to restart. You
can get the number of links, headings, etc. with the Speak Summary hot
key: Control-Shift-S.

Hth,
Tom

Yes, I must agree with the posting immediately below, except that my
complaints pertain to Outlook 2013. This is a Windows Seven Pro, 64
bit Desktop PC. It's been happening for two or three upgrades, now,
and continues in Win-Eyes 9.4. Every time I open a message, I have
to stop the reading of the message, and usually must cause the first
line of the message to re-read a few times before issuing a
read-to-end command to hear words that don't repeat. If I don't do
that, a part of the message will be repeated, and sometimes the
repeated material includes a reference to the word "links," that
aren't found in the body of the message at all. Very weird, yet not
a show-stopper.

This actually started much earlier and simply continues in 9.4

If you pay attention some emails repeat and some do not. I thought
it was related to html vs. plain text but I cannot easily confirm this.

WE repeats only the first word or sentence with a peruid and then
reads the rest of the message correctly.

Hi ever sense I have upgraded my window-eyes to the latest version.
When I open A message in Thunderbird.
And it starts to read A message it will read put of the message and
then.
Go back and read the first part over again.
I didn't do this before I upgraded.
So what can you change in window-eyes to fix this?
Or is there something that i have to set in Thunderbird to make this
not happen?
If this is A window-eyes issue can you please look in to this and
give us A way to fix it.
