over seas callers usually use d s l lines so they are vertually untraceable by most consumers.

The phone numbers that show up usually don't mean anything

Hi. My advice: call the Federal Trade Commision and REPORT IT, REPORT IT,
REPORT IT! If your caller ID gives a phone number, note it down and tell
the Trade Commission that in their complaint system, NEVER, EVER,
EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! play along with those birds; they're scammers out to
 get any poor schmoe who plays along with their calls.  They must be stopped;
that's my 2 cents worth; thanks.

 Dave,

When you played along with them, you probably got upgraded to their "Call
more often" list. If you just start hanging up on them, they will probably
downgrade you to a "Call now and then" list and eventually they will stop.
I think it is unlikely that they are calling because they get notified when
you start your system, it is probably just coincidence, but it can't hurt to
do a full virus and malware scan if you feel strongly that they are somehow
being notified. They are going to try to call when they think they are most
likely going to get a human being answering.

In general, I don't play along with any scammers or spammers, even when it
is tempting. At the very least, you may indicate to them that you are worth
contacting again, and you could give information to them without meaning to.

 Best regards,

 Steve Jacobson

Subject: OT: Annoying Window Technical Service Calls from India or where
 ever

 Hello,

On my last system, a Win 7 system, it seemed when ever I started up my
computer, shortly after, I would receive a call from a person telling me
they were from the Windows Technical Service, or something like that.
So far, every call, which are probably two or three dozen by now, have all
 been
from people with thick accents from some far away place.

I knew these guys were up to no good, but I would like to get rid of
 them calling me.

Thought when I change systems, I would sease getting these calls. Not
 so.

I have Software to rid my system of viruses and Malware, but still these
 folks keep calling.

Anyone here find a solution to stop these people from calling?

I have started to play along to see what they will do. Even I need
 entertainment.

But, I am getting bored and they amazingly seem to really get upset when
they find out I've been playing them along. totally halairious at
times, but now I really just need to stop the calls.

 Anyone have good advice?

 Grumpy Dave
