What would happen, if the window-eyes screenreader becomes the only screen reader?

I completely agree. Also remember how GW used to release public betas
that users could try out on their own machines first and report back any
problems or suggestions. That way it would make it even more stable on
as many systems as they possibly could prior to the official release.

Once AI Squared took over there were no more public betas (unless you
counted the actual release which were more like betas). I found that
each release became less stable and was more like a downgrade instead of
an upgrade.
Sorry for being so negative, but this has been my experience.

There reason, even when they were GW Micro, was they wanted to make sure
the updates were sound, instead of just releasing them before they were
done. I find they have updates more often, and they are not necessarily
as sound, as if they felt they had to start competing with jaws. Pam.

Vaughan, I have been using Window-Eyes for years now and I find with
each subsequent release the functionality improves considerably. I
realize that they do not come out with updates as frequently as a lot of
other software manufacturers do, but as far as I can tell Window-Eyes is
still very functional. Can you give me a specific example of where it
is losing its functionality? Just curious. Catch Ya Later! de

But: Window-eyes is gradually becoming less functional. Clearly - a
screen reader is useless without interaction with an operating system

the rest of software world still marches on. And: there are long
standing bugs which now fall into legacy problems. And: VFO and the
old GW Micro are organisationally very different in character.

AiSquared' CEO is (or was) head of software development within VFO.
Because AI Squared was starting to bring some momentum back to
Window-Eyes, and had produced Fusion, I think he is well placed to
give us some official goss.

Hi Jim. I totally agree with you. Let's just focus on the
functionality of Window-Eyes. You are right that all it does is
create fear, and uncertainty when this topic is discussed.

Hi there FOLKS!

I recently enquired about purchasing an SMA for W.E. At this time
they are still selling them. I don't believe they could or would sell
something if the product was no longer going to be supported. All of
this speculation is doing nothing but taking the discussion away from
where it should be, discussing the actual functionality of W.E. So I
say lets continue to use the product for as long as it's being
produced as well as supported and if or when we have to cross a bridge
of changing screen readers then perhaps we can pick up this discussion
then..? Catch Ya All Later! de

Hi Peter. Speaking of what you said about Window-Eyes being dead, I
have contacted our local dealer who sells both JAWS and Window-Eyes to
discuss the situation of what was happening and he was shocked, and he
told me that he had the head from optolek Canada, as Canada does have
an optolek branch here, come and visit him, and the head told our
dealer that they could sell both Optolek and Freedom products and that
he wouldn't be surprised if AI Squared ended up in the same channel.

   Hi all,
When the founders and main staff of an organization leave, the
business dies a quick death. There is absolutely no reason why f v o
needs to or wants to support a product that is given away for free.
I recommend all of us check out the Narrator on Windows 10 and NVDA
as an alternative screen reader for the future.
