Hi Tom,

I've been working with reaper for a few weeks and can say it is fantastic. It was working perfectly till yesterday and everything went crazy.

I kept losing speech when opening reaper. I had set up the steinberg interface. It worked fine until I unplugged it. Speech would freeze when I loaded reaper. That was using window-eyes, nvda and narrator.

I uninstalled w.e nvda and tried each one seperatly. The same result. silence. I did hear error opening device when loading reaper.

I uninstalled reaper, osara, sw plug in and tha ausio drivers.

When I now load reaper, I still get that error message but no loss of speech. I can't play any tracks. When I press control and spacebar I get stop. No play or pause. Simply stop.

The other problem is that when I install the reaper w.e app it isn't in my app list. It tells me it is installed but I can't find it anywhere.

Any ideas you might have to help, please let me know. I checked the audio settings and they appear to be fine.

I have no idea why the reaper app is not showing up in w.e.

Live long and prosper, John

Kim,

Reaper costs only 60 dollars for an individual license. But you can
download and install it and it will be fully functional with nothing
more than a purchase reminder that pops up on launch.
It works fine on Windows 7 with Window-Eyes.
It is a full blown multi-track recorder like Sonar.

Here's what you need to get started.
Reaper.
http://www.reaper.fm/

The OSARA accessibility extension. Go to the ReadMe heading and read
that section. Then go to the download and install heading and read that.
You should bookmark that page or the download link because you'll need
to check for updates yourself. They're pretty frequent. So check back
every couple weeks.
https://github.com/nvaccess/osara

The SWS/S&M extension. It's not required but very helpful.
http://www.sws-extension.org/

And here's a link to the Reapers without Peepers mailing list page where
you can subscribe. It's a very helpful list.

Good luck,
Tom

A couple of questions: Is there a cost to this? Will it work on
Windows 7 with WE 9.5.4? I gather this works with Sonar, so does
anyone know how much this program costs?

Hi Tom,

Like some users on the w.e list. I too have been struggling with Sonar. The
Reaper app and accessibility sounds amazing.

Can you send me the details for the reaper mailing list please? Which is
the
best version to purchose? I assume the Proffessional one. Or is it as
accessible as the basic version?

I am looking forward to giving it a try. Is there a demo available?Live

Thanks, Dave.

The app is really an interconnect for Window-Eyes and OSARA, a MSAA
accessibility extension for Reaper. So it just makes everything talk
that doesn't out of the box.

The RWP mailing list I mentioned is a good place to get help. Someone
recently posted an HTML version of the PDF manual to make it easier to
navigate. And someone else posted a text file with a list of all the hot
keys. But if you don't want to join the list just let me know and I'll
upload them to Dropbox.

Regards,
Tom

Hi Tom,

Tom has anyone told you that you are a Class Act?

I have struggled with Sonar now for years. Have never used Reaper, but
have thought about it enough, but never put any action to my thoughts.

Is there a Help file with this new App, telling what Reaper features the
App now gives Access?
