Indeed it is.

I've decided to stop using the ticker for a spell and assist you in trying
to get a lock on this bug.

When it occurs you need to look at a number of things. Is the offending
message, whose headers are being wrongfully used, added to an already
existing thread. How many messages are in the thread? How deep in the
thread was the message added? Where is the message that you were currently
reading.

We need to see if we can detect a pattern. I have a strong feeling it has
to do with messages being dynamically added in threaded view. Kind of like
the grid index out of range bug (now fixed) that would occur re-filtering
a folders messages while the message list is threaded. This is why simple
manoeuvres will not trigger the bug.
