Maybe, it's also unnecessary complex, but, from my POV, more logical and usable Short remake: 0. It must be not global, but folder-specific, with some possible extenders 1. Changing with menu in folder with "Account default..." change VM for all folders in _current account_ with "Account default" 2. Changing VM from one to another will change VM for all folders in account with this VM (and another folders will show after it new VM in properties) 3.
