Hi there, SC>>> Try turning off auto-format. You can always use Alt+L to SC>>> reformat a paragraph if needed. AS>> Not possible. I need two formated paragraphs, both terminated by AS>> CR, without an empty line between the two. SC> You must be pasting text into the document.
I didn't even think of that. SC> If you are typing it in the paragraph should format correctly on SC> its own even with auto-format turned off. Only if you type word by word, with no edits to go back. I'm frequently rewriting sentences, throwing in a reference here, deleting a word there. Believe me, I do need re-formatting, and I do so on a regular basis (that is, in every paragraph). The same goes for quotes: You can't even put two lines of quotes next to each other without them suddenly merging. If you took some effort before to shorten them according to context this frequently produces connections that had not been there before. People that have their quotes treated like this will most certainly complain about not being cited truthfully. Finally, it is not possible to make lists with AutoFormat turned on. You have to explicitly switch it off every time, remember to turn it on again afterward for the rest of the message, and keep turning it off and on again every time you modify anything in the list. If that's not a PITA I don't know what is. SC> Then if you push Enter you will start a new line and will have two SC> paragraphs next to each other on different lines. In that case I can't have the paragraphs formatted. SC> If you are pasting this info then you could paste the first paragraph, SC> Alt+L to format it, push enter twice, paste the second paragraph, SC> Alt+L again, and then delete the space between the two paragraphs. Are you kidding? In every other editor I would do exactly one thing: Paste and be done. Reformat would be automatic, and Layout would be maintained. TheBat/MicroEd is the only editor that uses that perverted logic. SC> Not perfect but it would work. Not perfect - you can say that again. Ok, I've shown reason against the current behaviour. Can anybody show reason _for_ it? -- MfG, Alto mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]
