I would say that it should appear with todays date.

I would say that TB! is doing it RIGHT. TB! received the imported
eMails today, so they have to display in the default "today" filter.
If someone want it differently, (s)he is free do use the features of
TB! to create any view (s)he wants.

If (s)he is not willing to understand the features that TB! offers,
(s)he can move to an other eMail client. There are 30 days of free
trial to test TB! before buying.
